Banana leaf (Musa acuminate) most of south Indians (Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Tamil nadu, Kerala) have food veg/non-veg on the banana leaf. This is the tradition which they got from their ancestors. This is not only a tradition more of great health benefits and eco friendly.
Banana leaf is having polyphenols (EGCG) which are known as epigallocatechin and antioxidants. These components which we can see in green tea. When food is placed on a leaf, the food absorbs polyphenols and improves digestion. It is known for antibacterial properties that kill bacteria. This banana leaf is having a natural wax coating when we place hot food on the leaf wax gets melted gives a beautiful aroma and additional flavour feels like having prasad at Temple.
